"Horsemanship for Women" creates a variety of images at first, but can be summarized as a program that empowers women to access their natural leadership skills to influence the mind of a horse - any horse, and in any situation.
More confidence with horses is the most common goal I've found people to have with horses, especially women. The only way we can feel more confident is by gaining more knowledge about horse behavior, what motivates them and how to become the individual they naturally took to for clear, confident direction in any given situation.
Generally speaking, women are influenced by society to feel more comfortable in a support role. When we lack the leadership role with a horse, the result is a 'conditional relationship' ; we'll ride in an arena, not outside, with a small group, never alone or with a large one, and never on a windy day!
Without the leadership skills horses require to feel safe, secure and confident in us and what we're asking of them, we know at an instinctive level that we are lacking the skills to respond appropriately if/when something goes wrong. This commonly results in fear, avoidance, limited activities, boredom, frustration and maybe even getting out of horses altogether.
If you're still reading this, it's obvious that you're committed to an ongoing education with horses and may even be searching for something you feel has been missing.
It may be a feeling you can't really put your finger on - a nagging feeling that though much of the education you've encountered is quite valuable, there's something holding you back from progressing the way you think you should - whether you're a first-time horse owner or have had horses for decades!
Literally thousands of people are now discovering that missing piece by gaining new insights of a woman's unique learning style from a woman's point of view, then taking that understanding to accelerate their progress toward their ultimate goals with horses, from safer, more enjoyable trail rides to gaining that competitive edge in top performance endeavors - and everything in between!
Just like horses, when we feel understood, respected and supported, every woman I know will give their best effort under any condition! To me, horsemanship is not only about considering the horse, but also considering the person - how we learn, what motivates us, what defines success, and most importantly, how to reach the mind and heart of our horse to access their natural desire to please.
By expanding our ability to provide a new level of clarity as to what is being askied of a horse - any horse - we gain an ability to 'hold a conversation of feel' even when they become confused, defensive or resistant.
Why not explore an approach designed not only for the consideration of the nature of horses, but also the nature of people - especially women - and our unique interaction with this very special animal that holds a very special place in our heart.
